clinical therapist
providing a calm, reflective, therapeutic space
welcome
I'm so happy you're here. I hope to provide a unique experience for your emotional and mental wellness. Talk therapy has so much to offer. It provides a safe space to reflect, process, and communicate life's challenges and to sort through all of the clutter in our minds. It's so important to continue evolving emotionally and mentally for our overall wellness. I offer a supportive and calm place for you to become more self aware and confident, work through thoughts/emotions/anxieties/conflict, and help you to live your best version of yourself.
a bit about therapy
Some of the reasons that people seek therapy include feeling overwhelmed, anxious, sad, indecisive, or unmotivated. Some people need support with family members or want assistance with developing future plans. Sometimes we just need someone to objectively listen to us and to feel heard. I utilize effective psychotherapy methods in a warm and compassionate setting to assist with self-awareness and change. Therapy is a process of awakening and I'm honored to join clients on their journey.
individual and couples therapy
Some of the work we do in sessions includes solving current problems, increasing productive cognitions and behaviors, developing self awareness, improving self esteem, and implementing positive coping skills. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with strengths-based and client-centered approaches. I also work with individuals that have been court ordered to complete therapy due to legal and/or substance use issues.
adolescents/teens/young adults
I see clients of all ages; however I serve a very large population of adolescents, teens, and young adults. I've been able to cultivate wonderful connections with people in this age group. This is a crucial age range to identify and discuss emotions, learn communication and coping skills, and deepen connections with important people in their lives.
about me
I earned a Bachelors of Arts in Communication Studies from the University of Michigan and I received my Masters in Social Work from Wayne State University. I have been lucky enough to work in many different helping settings over the past 14 years. These have ranged from adoption to psychiatric and emergency room assessment positions to case management for severe mental illness to clinical therapy settings. I love spending time getting to know my clients - they are truly inspirational. I use empathy and humor in my approach with people. I believe that we have more similarities with each other than differences and I'm a true believer that a good conversation can go a long way.
